Backstory

Antiblanks Were Recommended to Kays by Cloud Platform Specialists 'Firney', Who Were Modernising The Kays Back End and Content Management System (CMS). Antiblanks Had an Existing Relationship With Firney and Were Known by Co-Founders Mark and Ashley to be Experts in Front End Website and Mobile App Development.

Problem

To Cater to the Specific Needs of Industry Professionals, Kays Recognized the Need for a More Robust and User-Friendly Mobile App That Would Enable Users To Access Its Vast Database While on the Go.

1. Outdated Design and Technology

The existing Kays mobile app was plagued by an outdated design and technology stack, which hindered user experience and performance. It did not meet the modern expectations of users within the Film and TV industry. The outdated design and technology were hampering user engagement and deterring potential users from utilizing the app's offerings.

2. Large Dataset Synchronization

The Kays mobile app required the management of an extensive dataset, including location information, equipment listings, talent directories, and more. This dataset needed to be regularly and automatically synchronized for offline use, as industry professionals often work in locations with limited or no internet connectivity. Manual synchronization was time-consuming, prone to errors, and resulted in outdated or inconsistent data.

Solution

1. React Native

To ensure cross-platform compatibility on iOS and Android, Antiblanks Limited chose to develop the app using React Native. This allowed for code reusability, quicker development cycles, and a more consistent experience across platforms.

2. React Native UI by WIX

The app's user interface was completely overhauled using React Native UI components by WIX. This redesign brought the app up to modern design standards, enhancing its usability and visual appeal.

3. Realm Database

For seamless offline access and data synchronization, the app was integrated with Realm Database. This allowed users to access crucial industry information even when offline, providing an uninterrupted experience.

4. MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas Cloud

The extensive dataset was managed using MongoDB, hosted on MongoDB Atlas Cloud. This cloud-hosted database ensured data security, scalability, and facilitated automatic synchronization between the mobile app and the central database.

The Redevelopment of the Kays Mobile App with React Native, React Native UI by WIX, Realm Database, MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas Cloud Yielded a Modern Mobile App Design With Enhanced Performance, Generating Positive User Feedback and Increased User Engagement and Retention.
